Huddersfield hero Michael Collins says Town's Elland Road win will be "worthless" if the Terriers fail to follow it up down in Brighton tomorrow.
Collins volleyed home a dramatic injury-time winner in last Saturday's West Yorkshire derby at Leeds as Town finally clicked in caretaker boss Gerry Murphy's second game in charge.

The Terriers are now just nine points off the League One play-offs
but Collins wants Huddersfield to prove the Leeds win was no flash in the pan.

Brighton are one place below Huddersfield in 14th spot having won just two games at home this term and Collins feels victory at the Withdean Stadium is essential.

"With the Leeds win we've now set ourselves a platform," said Collins. "We've shown what we can do and now we need to kick on as a group of players down in Brighton.

"You can look at it and you can say if we don't beat Brighton then the Leeds win was pretty much worthless. We've got to kick on from there."

A colossal crowd of 32,028 witnessed Huddersfield's shock win in Saturday's derby but Brighton's average home gate is just shy of the 6,000 mark.

Tomorrow's tie at the Withdean will present an extremely different test to the white-hot atmosphere at Elland Road, but Collins is calling for an air of professionalism and the ability to adapt.

"People say how are you going to react to having played in front of 32,000 to going down to Brighton and playing in front of I don't know what it is there," he said. "But the answer is to just be professional as a group of players and make sure we go there and give 100 per cent.

"This league is such a topsy-turvy league at the moment and if you don't get that full commitment you will get beat.

"It's vital we get our mindset right, go in with a professional approach and pick up the three points. It's been a great week to be honest and I don't think we could have asked for anything better at the weekend for everyone involved.

"Everyone at the club is now buzzing and hopefully it's the start of something better."

Town remain on the hunt for Stan Ternent's long-term replacement but in the meantime caretaker boss Murphy is doing a sterling job in steadying the ship and victory tomorrow will have Town sensing the play-offs.

Despite a disastrous start considering the pre-season ambitions in Town's centenary year, Collins has no doubt the current campaign can yet end with promotion.

"That's been the aim all along and it was just we had a bit of an inconsistent start," he said. "Now the performances are getting better and we are starting to put our finger on what was going wrong before and ironing out the flaws. Now we are playing better as a unit.

"Hopefully, that win will really change things and we can pick up some massive points as we are firmly looking towards the play-offs and even automatic promotion.

"We are getting within touching distance of the play-offs and it's massively important that we keep it that way."
