The Magpies have won their last two outings in the Premier League, and will be looking to make it three on the bounce when they face the Whites for the first time in the top flight since 2004.
Steve Bruce’s men have endured a tough spell recently due to a spate of absences brought about by positive Coronavirus tests, but still managed to put in an assured display in a 2-1 win over West Brom at the weekend.
That result leaves the Toon Army with 13th in the table, one place and three points better off than Marcelo Bielsa’s men, but also with the luxury of a game in hand.
Bruce should be able to welcome back a couple of key players for Wednesday’s clash, but may have to rest a couple more.

1. Goalkeeper - Karl Darlow
Darlow has done a mightily impressive job deputising for Martin Dubravka this season, and should be nailed on to start at Elland Road. (Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images) Photo: Alex Pantling
2. Right-back - Emil Krafth
With Javier Manquillo unlikely to feature, Bruce will turn to either Krafth or DeAndre Yedlin. The latter is a pacy threat on the right flank, but the Toon boss seems to favour the Swede, despite the occasional questionable display. (Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images) Photo: Alex Pantling
3. Centre-back - Federico Fernandez
Arguably Newcastle's best defender, Fernandez was absent against West Brom at the weekend. The Argentine is back in training, however, and if he is fit, should get the nod. (Photo by Andrew Couldridge - Pool/Getty Images) Photo: Pool
4. Centre-back - Ciaran Clark
Jamaal Lascelles could be in contention for a starting spot at Elland Road, but Clark was superb at the weekend and has generally been in good form of late. Bruce may feel that he has done enough to merit another run out against Leeds, especially seeing as him and Fernandez tend to work well together. 5. Left-back - Jamal Lewis
Lewis didn't have a great game against West Brom at the weekend, but he may keep his place in the side anyway. Bruce is hardly blessed with great strength in depth on the left side of defence right now, and may feel that it is better for a young player like the former Norwich City man to try and play his way out of a rough patch, rather than denting his confidence by benching him. 6. Right midfield - Miguel Almiron
It took him a while to settle in on Tyneside, but the Paraguayan looks to have finally found his groove in the Premier League. Almiron scored the opener against West Brom on Saturday, and seems to be doing some of his best work to date on the right flank. (Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images) Photo: Alex Pantling
