Yorkshire Day heroes: Wayne to the rescue in car drama
Wayne, 57, from Alwoodley, was in Middleton Park with wife Debbie and two-year-old grandson Zac when they saw the potentially tragic aftermath of a road accident.
A pedestrian in his 80s had been left pinned underneath a car that had hit him as it was being driven out of the park following a concert. Wayne immediately ran to help and single-handedly managed to lift the front end of the car off the man. He then stayed with him until an ambulance arrived on the scene. The incident happened in early May and the Yorkshire Evening Post understands that, later in the month, the victim was out of hospital and on the mend at home.

He added: “I’m not sure about being a hero, I’m just glad to hear that the gentleman was alright.”
