M62 Leeds traffic: Live updates as roadworks close motorway lanes between Bradford and Brighouse

Two lanes are closed on the westbound carriageway between Bradford and Brighouse, causing three miles of slow-moving traffic backing up to Birstall and the M621 for Leeds. Highways England has advised drivers to allow extra time before travelling.

Live updates as lane closures cause severe delays on the M62 near Leeds
Delays now starting to ease
This live traffic map from the AA shows the queues easing, no longer reaching the Leeds area. Two lane closures have caused traffic chaos on the M62 westbound this afternoon.
The closures are due to planned roadworks.
Average speed is five miles per hour
The AA reports that between Leeds and Hartshead Moor Services, the average speed is just five miles per hour.
It says: "Severe delays of 34 minutes and delays increasing."
Two lanes are still closed
National Highways has made a correction, after previously reporting that the lanes had opened on the M62 westbound. The two lanes, of four, are actually still shut.
There are long delays backing up to Leeds and the M621, with slow-moving traffic all afternoon. The delays are due to planned roadworks.
