Although many have moved elsewhere in the world, these nine stars are proud to call the city their home.
1. Melanie Brown
The former Scary Spice is Leeds born and bred. She grew up in Kirkstall before finding pop stardom with the band and went on to have a solo career and judge on The X Factor and America's Got Talent. She released her second book, Brutally Honest, in 2018. Mel and her three daughters lived in America for several years but have moved back home to Leeds.
2. Tom Zanetti
The Leeds-born DJ is now an international name after appearing on Celebs Go Dating and coupling up with Made in Chelsea's Sophie Hermann. The father-of-one, who grew up in Gipton, still lives in Leeds where he also owns The Doll House nightclub in Hirst's Yard. He just released new single 'Didn’t Know'.
3. Nicola Adams
Olympic champion and former professional boxer Nicola Adams was born in Burmantofts and began her career at the age of 12. Her first fight was at the East Leeds Working Men’s Club when she was 13 - she won. She still lives in Leeds with her partner Ella and their cute American Bulldog Brooklyn.
4. Mathew Lewis
Leeds actor Matthew Lewis shot to fame as a teenager when he bagged the role of Nevile Longbottom in the Harry Potter films. He has since performed on stage and in TV shows such as the Yorkshire-baed All Creates Great and Small. Lewis, a huge Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos fan, still lives in the city with his wife Angela.
5. Gary Beadle
Gary Beadle, known as Gaz, shot to fame as part of the original Geordie Shore cast. He later appeared on Ex on the Beach. He now lives in Leeds with his partner Emma and their two adorable children.
6. Brownlee Brothers
Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee have inspired many people across Leeds through their sporting achievements. Alistair won the gold medal at both 2012 and 2016 Olympics for triathlon and Jonathan is the 2012 Triathlon World Champion. He also won a silver medal in the Olympics in Rio 2016.
