Man jailed after being caught with knife in Leeds for third time

Steven Wojtylo was caught in possession of a knife for the third time when police stopped a car on Gelderd Road in Leeds on August 11 last year.
Leeds Crown Court heard the 42-year-old was a passenger in the car, which had been stopped in relation to an attempted burglary.

Hide AdFrances Pencheon, prosecuting, said the knife was found in the front pocket of his jeans.
Wojtylo, of Leafield Towers, Moortown, Leeds, was arrested and claimed he had it for fitting carpets.
He later changed his account and said he had bought it from someone recently.
Wojtoylo, who appeared in court via video link from Leeds prison, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Hide AdHe has 42 previous convictions for 100 offences, including two offences of possessing knives.
Nicholas Hammond, mitigating, said his client initially said he had the knife for legitimate purposes but later came clean.
Wojtylo was jailed for ten months.
