Speeding drivers in Adel and Wharfedale are being warned of new speed reduction measures.

The arrival of Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) in the area is thanks to money being made available from the Wellbeing Fund of the Leeds City Council Outer North West Community Committee.

Local councillors have prioritised speed reduction measures due to the amount of complaints and concerns coming from local residents.

The complaints centre around a cluster of different roads where speeding is considered an issue.

As a result, the SIDs will be installed at Tinshill Road, Green Lane, Long Causeway (at junction with Dunstarn Drive), Church Lane and Adel Lane.

Councillor Barry Anderson said: “It is some time since we allocated the Wellbeing money for the SIDs and I am pleased that at last they are to be installed in the locations that we chose based on feedback and concerns from local residents.

“We have been waiting on an issue being resolved for the Church Lane SID as they all need a power supply and the location here did not have one but this is now sorted.

“The Street Lighting supplier now has the units and I am told they will be installed by November 18.
