Firefighters from Cookridge, Rawdon and Otley attended.

Three people were in the car.

Cookridge watch manager Paul Ibbetson said: "The scene was of utter carnage. There were engine parts and debris strewn over 50 or 60 yards."

The driver suffered head injuries.

North West Leeds police said a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in the crash, and appealed for witnesses.

They said the black Peugeot 206 car left the carriageway on Moor Road and hit a wall about 100 metres north of the junction with Moorland Road, at about 9.12pm. The vehicle was travelling from Bramhope towards Cookridge at the time.

The injured teenager, from Leeds, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he is currently in a stable condition.
