A MAN bled to death after being stabbed in the leg at his Leeds home.
David Rider, 44, suffered a severed artery from a single stab wound in his right thigh at his home on Old Run View, Belle Isle, an inquest heard.

Leeds Coroner's Court heard how Mr Rider's partner, 40-year-old Lesley Buck is to go on trial charged with his murder.

An ambulance called to their house at 11.30pm on Friday, August 7, but Mr Rider, an unemployed former labourer, was declared dead 12 minutes later by paramedic David Lunn.

Det Supt David Pervin, senior investigating officer, told the court how detectives from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) arrested Buck after being contacted by the ambulance service.

He said: "She was subsequently interviewed and charged with an offence of murder.

"She is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court for trial on Monday, January 5 next year."

Home Office pathologist Alfredo Walker gave a provisional cause of death as bleeding caused by a rupture to the femoral artery.

A second post mortem was also carried out on August at the request of lawyers defending Buck.West Yorkshire Coroner David Hinchliff gave permission for Mr Rider's body to be released so a funeral and burial can take place.

Mr Hinchliff adjourned the inquest until criminal proceeding are completed.

Buck is currently on remand at Wakefield's New Hall prison awaiting the trial.

She looked frail and gaunt in the dock as she appeared before magistrates four days after the alleged incident.

Relatives and friends were ordered to leave the court by a district judge after they disturbed proceedings several times, shouting messages of support to her from the public gallery.

Cries of "Lesley we love you" rang across the court as she was led away.
