WHAT did you think of the trouble at the Leeds United v Bradford City Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash at Elland Road?
Here are some of your views:-
What a disgrace!
I was at the game last night and thoroughly enjoyed it from a football point of view.
What I didn't enjoy was the actions of the moronic imbeciles charging across Holbeck Moor prior to the gam
e, putting local residents and fans in fear of being assaulted.
What is it with these idiots? I saw a lot of them in the North East Corner, lower, that I have not seen since the last match that had the potential to be explosive. (Probably Millwall last season).
I will not stop going to Elland Road, but it makes me sick to be associated with these so-called "fans".
Here's a novel idea. When these thugs are arrested - keep them in custody until the next home game and birch them at half time………now that would be entertainment!!!!
Ray, loyal Leeds fan, from Leeds.
I think the police should have' locked up' the bus with its passengers and taken them to a police station and charged the whole lot.
Then the bus should have been escorted back to Valley Parade and unloaded. Then let Bradford division deal with them, names and addresses supplied by Leeds division.
George PennockMy view is your picture video is very misleading. It says violence and trouble yet nobody looks to be causing any on them.
It's also unfair to publish pictures of casual fans (my dad is in one) who are just trying to get to the game - under that headline. Pathetic.
Richard EllisonI have never understood the mindless violence that seems to go hand in hand with supporting the game, no matter who your team is.
I personally don't like football I prefer rugby league, which incidentally does not seem to have the same affect on its supporters. I have sat side by side many a Leeds Rhino, Hull, St Helens, Wigan fan etc and there has been playful banter between us but never once have I felt threatened or intimidated by fans of opposing teams.
The life ban threatened for offences at matches seems to be doing very little to deter fans from acting with such thuggery and therefore maybe a short sharp shock of a few weeks inside a prison might just go some way to having these so called fans stopping and thinking before they act in such a brutal animalistic fashion. A total ban on alcohol may also go some way to calming them down.
It seems that the matches are a good excuse to go out get tanked up and cause trouble, therefore if there was no alcohol at all, they might just might act civilised.
Zero tolerance is required forthwith!
Denese BrownHaving followed one of the bus loads of so-called Bradford City supporters along Wellington Street en-route to the game, it was obvious that they were intent on causing as much mayhem as they could. Their behaviour was not only stupid but downright dangerous.
It is amazing, they had a police escort who did not seem at all bothered with their antics. To my mind it would have been quite easy at that early stage to have the bus turned round and directed to the nearest police station. There would have been 50 less idiots to deal with after the match.
As far as the damage to the buses is concerned, it would be a good idea to give the bill for repairs to the people concerned, i.e. the so- called football fans, and to the club they are supposed to support.
P TunstallAs usual there will be no examples made of the culprits and they will walk free aith just a "caution" . After all, they were just having fun.
Thomas Lowry I was on one of the buses and it was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. We arrived at Leeds train station and had a drink in a bar there, upon leaving the bar we asked a police officer where we could find a bus, he informed that a bus was being provided to escort Bradford Fans to the game. I except that the majority of fans on the buses were moronic imbeciles however I disagree with the comments that everyone on the buses should have been arrested as there were a few people including myself who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
May I also add the behaviour of the Leeds fans before and after the game was not conducive to a peaceful and calm atmosphere, as bricks were thrown and abuse hurled towards City fans.
