Measures have been taken by schools across Leeds to limit the spread of coronavirus, including staggered start times, social distancing and creating year group bubbles. This allows schools to easily identify those who may need to self-isolate if someone within the bubble tests positive for the virus. These are the 22 Leeds schools where positive cases have been confirmed and bubbles disbanded as of Wednesday September 23.
1. Royds School
A year 8 pupil tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, September 22. The year 8 bubble was closed and the affected students were sent home.
2. Woodkirk Academy
The Tingley school confirmed as positive case on Monday September 21. It has not been confirmed whether the person was a pupil, teacher or other member of staff but it has affected the Year 11 group.
3. Little London Primary School
The school collapsed two class bubbles after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus, it was confirmed on Friday September 18. There had been no positive cases for children in the school at that time.
4. The Ruth Gorse Academy
Five schools managed by the The Gorse Academies Trust are known to have been affected by positive cases. Two pupils have tested positive for the virus at The Ruth Gorse Academy, it was confirmed on Friday September 18.
5. Farnley Academy
It was confirmed on Friday September 18 that one pupil and two staff members had tested positive for Covid-19. On Wednesday September 23, it was confirmed that 80 KS4 pupils are self isolating after a second student tested positive. Photo: Google
